"Bless Queen" (2017)

by Red

The Black Woman is the mother of humanity - the original woman. The role she plays in the community, especially in the household, cannot be understated. Considering negative influences such as the media, eugenics movement, and chattel slavery practices which antagonize the relationship between the Black Man and Black Woman, she deserves reminders of her importance and value to our community. The breakdown of interpersonal relationships counteracts our efforts to unify and transcend our myriad oppressions. It is worthwhile to invest in the repair of the Black Family Dynamic which has endured centuries of frustration, as the saying goes, "We have to take care of home first. Then we can help others." In taking care of home, we must take care of our Black Women- our mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, aunts, cousins, friends, co-workers, etc. Without them, we would lose our balance. With them, we can develop symbiotic relationships conducive to sustaining our households and building our communities.
